As the coronavirus pandemic continues, many college campuses have shut down and sent students home. Refunds have been issued to students regarding parking, housing and more. It is uncertain how many incoming freshman there will be this fall, as potential students cannot travel to visit schools.
Foreign students, who typically pay higher tuition, are also unlikely to apply to colleges outside of their country.
Many colleges are already expecting smaller class sizes in the fall.
With campuses shutting down, refunding tuitions, and the loss of the ability to have fundraising or events to generate money, it is likely that some colleges could shut down. Those with smaller reserves are certainly in trouble.
