November 2nd is around the corner. Election Day 2021 is considered an off-year because there are no national elections. However, there are important elections for local and community. In Lansing, we are voting for the mayor. Andy Schor is up for re-election. There is still absentee voting available as well as in-person.
After the presidential election of 2020, they are trying to make it extremely difficult to vote. African Americans and women fought for the right to vote. Our vote should matter. Voter suppression is against the law and a federal crime. However several states are still making it harder to vote since the presidential election of 2020 with Donald Trump and Joe Biden. I believed it started to have more restrictions when we allowed absentee ballots for everyone. The absentee ballots came early in the mail. Since that election, there are 300 lawsuits in 44 states concerning the count on absentee ballots, who are allowed to vote early,
and how to collect the votes.
