An employee for Cameron Community Ministries is under fire for using his work email to deliver inappropriate messages. Social Worker Edgar SantaCruz lost control when his email address was added to an email chain regarding the current RCSD bus driver crisis.
Edgar SantaCruz cursed and ranted about the hot-button topic and other issues within the community. In one email he stated, “I will say this.. you are the ignorant people on this email. Assume what you like about me or anyone else, as your comments express, since that is the sign of insecurity. Again, your words show that you are nothing but a low-level ass, at this point, and want to continue any conversation that promotes your name/organization among a group who has, probably, never heard of you before. Timing is always right, when the public officials are around. WHERE WAS YOUR VOICE BEFORE? WHAT HAPPENED WHEN THERE AS A BLACK MAN DYING ON THE STREET AND NO ONE DID ANYTHING BUT WATCH AND VIDEO? Oh, and it was blacks and browns WHO LET ANOTHER BLACK MAN DIE on the side walk. Where were you during these times, which are multiple? Nowhere from what I know. So don’t step to me saying whatever BS you want to say, because if you truly wanted to make a difference, then join me in walking the streets and getting to know our neighbors and talking with them, vs. trying to intimidate people on an email, which you probably need to hide behind because you know you lack the certain skills, talent, or even, access, to certain populations.”
In another email SantaCruz wrote ,
“I will say this… STOP THE FUCKING SHIT REVEREND AND WHOMEVER ELSE. This is toxic and you don’t come up with any options or solutions. You are a waste of my time right now, since all you want to do is criticize, but am open to future discussions. Being in the field for a number of years, has granted me the privilege of learning the wholistic approach to life, and your contrary shows that you are only in this for one reason. Be real. You and the others on this email who want to throw clout and status, come down tomorrow to 32 Cameron and prove yourselves that you want to be a part of the community. Unlike others, when we say we are doing something for the community, we do it, rather than the “suits” who sit around and want to criticize others.
Because the initial email was about RCSD bus stop, and then some ass wanted to make it about race, which is why I stepped in, there really is nothing much on this subject, as youth have a novice approach and ideas toward “race” than adults. This is not about race, sexual orientation, gender, etc., but about access to equitable care. People who want to disrupt that conversation are nothing but a waste of time… (take a look at this email chain).”
Tocsin reached out to Executive Director Olivia Kassoum-Amadou to learn what action, if any would be taken against SantaCruz. Kassoum-Amadou stated, “Thank you for your email. We are not permitted to discuss personnel matters outside the agency. Please accept our apologies and know that we do not condone this type of behavior.”
