Introduction

The phrase "The king is dead, long live the king!" originated in the medieval period. It signified the death of one ruler and the immediate ascension of another. While its literal meaning remains the same, today it can be applied metaphorically to signify any leadership change.

So, long live the king! How else can we describe a leader like King Donald Trump? King, monarch, absolute ruler—these are the epithets that America’s president has earned these days. President Trump has ascended his throne, and in true monarchical style, has undone years of effort by his predecessors with a single stroke of his pen.

All the work aimed at steering America toward a positive, democratic, and modern direction has been undone in mere seconds—the time it took for him to scrawl his signature. Yet, if you ask his supporters or even Trump himself, they will tell you that their vision for leading the United States is indeed positive, democratic, and modern. This contradiction underscores how challenging it is to remain objective about oneself.

The U.S. Withdraws from the Paris Agreement

The United States has exited the Paris Agreement on climate change and is now gearing up for unprecedented oil drilling. President Trump proclaims, "Drill, baby, drill."

While the rest of the world strives to reduce its carbon footprint, America boldly claims, “We don’t need that,” because Trump has declared climate change to be a hoax designed to extort money from the U.S.

He has previously criticized wind energy—a rapidly growing sector in the U.S.—describing wind turbines as an "economic and ecological disaster."

The U.S. is responsible for 11% of global greenhouse gas emissions, making it the world’s second-largest polluter after China. If the U.S. remains outside the Paris Agreement, curbing greenhouse gas emissions and combating rising global temperatures will become nearly impossible, further accelerating climate change.

A Return to Dark Medevil Times?

I cannot shake the feeling that a new dark age is looming over the U.S., possibly even darker for the rest of the world. Despite Trump’s promises of a new era for America and his pledge to "Make America Great Again" (MAGA), his actions suggest otherwise.

“Have mercy, President Trump,” pleaded Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde, imploring Trump from the altar to show compassion to those who “fear persecution.”

Now, the rest of the world should echo her sentiment: “Have mercy on Mother Earth, President Trump, for we have only one planet. Have mercy, we beg you, for we are afraid!”

Mass Deportations and More

Unfortunately, that is not all coming from President Trump’s workshop. Mass deportations are on the horizon. These include people who clean offices, mow lawns, sweep streets, and work on construction sites—jobs that the average American does not want to do.

We may even witness a rebranding of geography. The Gulf of Mexico could become the "American Gulf," while Greenland and the Panama Canal might be claimed as parts of the U.S. Only God knows what else awaits us during Trump’s presidency.

Questioning Trump’s Legacy

I often wonder if Trump ever pauses to reflect on some of his legendary statements and asks himself, "What was the point of this nonsense I’ve said?"

Can a nation truly call itself democratic if all the effort and progress invested in it can be erased with a single stroke of one person’s pen? Is America still "the land of the brave and the home of the free," and can it rightfully claim the title "Leader of the Free World"?

Time will answer these questions. For the sake of its people—and for the rest of us—I sincerely hope the answers will be positive.

What the Americans asked for is what they got, so now let them suffer the consequences.

Trump was democratically elected by the American people, which means they are happy to have him as president.🤣
