Tokyo Olympics and Coronavirus

Updated: Oct 13, 2021

While the world was finally waiting for the Tokyo Olympics, coronavirus is making it very difficult for the show to go on. A few athletes from gymnastics and tennis have been tested positive for COVID-19. Coco Gauff is the tennis player who tested positive for COVID and won't compete in the Tokyo Olympics. She was expected to lead the Team USA. This would have been Coco’s first appearance in the Olympics. Hopefully, there would be more opportunities in the future.

Kara Eaker and Leanne Wong who are on the women’s gymnastics for the Olympics are quarantined for testing positive for Covid -19. While Kara Eaker was actually vaccinated before testing positive for COVID. Now the whole gymnastics team is placed under isolation and being tested for COVID.

Since the new strain has come about, they decided that only the athletes would be out doing the Olympics. There would be no audience. I guess we watch at home. Tonight Tokyo Olympics began.
