Trumps vs COVID-19, What’s Next?

President Donald Trump is claiming, he and wife Melania have tested positive for COVID-19. Trump released the following statement via Twitter, “Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER! "

Trump had been receiving backlash for his behavior during the presidential debate. He and presidential hopeful Joe Biden reenacted a scene straight out of Grumpy Old Men, as they traded insults like jabs to the jugular. Just days later Trump announced he's a VICTIM of an illness that he had scheduled to "magically" disappear.

That reason alone makes the timing of Trump's announcement baffling. In the past, he claimed he was taking hydroxychloroquine to avoid getting the deadly virus. Although, hydroxychloroquine had never been approved by the FDA to prevent or cure COVID-19. But, that did not stop 45 from claiming he took the unproven treatment as a preventative measure. On September 30, CNN reported, “the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine -- which President Trump said he took in the hope of warding off COVID-19 -- was found not to prevent infections among volunteers in a study released on Wednesday.”

Now, he and the first lady are infected?! Is this just another lie to gain sympathy for a declining approval rating? Or does he just need some time to recuperate? No matter how much you loathe the man in the White House, he has taken a beating. His life should be turned into episodes of Comedy Central’s Who Wants to Roast a Millionaire. Trump has been criticized for his grammar, appearance, knowledge, behavior and everything in between. He may be an arrogant racist but, being one of the most hated men in the world cannot be easy. It is probably quite draining. Those two weeks of quarantine is probably just what the doctor ordered.
