Isaiah spoke with Monroe County Legislators Carolyn Hoffman and Mercedes Vazquez Simmons to take a dive into politics from a young person's perspective.
A question, and the response to the particular question, during the broadcast, which I found to be most interesting was one concerning Monroe County Legislature President Sabrina Lamar, in which one of the elected representatives noted the following:
"I'm in a system that is still a white supremacist system, and I have to negotiate with that system to get resources and criminal justice reform to my community. And so I am excited to have our first Black woman President of the Legislature. I believe she wants to do a good job.
